Take up the challange. Do a 100 push-ups!
I’m a bit of pansy when it comes to upper body strength. I can cycle 4 hours with a smile on my face, but ask me to do 20 push-ups and I’ll fail miserably, let alone 100! I think I managed 15 the other day, which was an all time best.
A friend sent over the one hundred push-ups challenge this morning and I’m like “Yeah right, a 100 push-ups. Never!” I’ve never tried a challenge such as this and since I’m waiting for my knee to recover, I think I’ll give it a go. Hell, I’ll be happy if I manage to get above 20.

Hey, good luck if you decided to give it a go. Let me know if you want to be added to the list of “challengers”: http://www.hundredpushups.com/challenge.html

Brilliant challenge - I’m signing up too, and probably for the same reason. I look on it as character building

Interesting.
An alternative method worked for me. A little less complicated….
I did as many pushups as I could as soon as I got out of bed each morning. (It had the added benefit of waking me up.)
I don’t remember how long it took. A few weeks I am sure.
Either way - Good Luck! It feels great when you hit that number!

Andy, you got to try my “Drop and give me 100!” Workout…
It’s 100 of every thing… It’s a killer…
100 - pushups
100 - body weight squats
100 - situps or crunches
100 - lunges
100 - pullups! (That’s the real killer! It takes me at least 25 sets… I start with 10, 10, then I get weak fast… and by the end I’m doing 1 pull up at a time.)
Anyway, you can add any other body weight workouts to the list and make a real party out of it!
Good luck on your path to 100! You can do it!

@ steve: lets just first see how the first week or two goes… I’m not entirely convinced this is an achievable goal.
@ brad: that’s quite hardcore. 100 pullups!! sheesh. i might try this after the 100 push-ups.

Pushups (and all of these exercises) are the types of things that really respond well to methodical progressive effort… by that I mean, if you just keep doing it, you’ll see progress.
